In recent years, the problem of evenly distributing points on manifolds such as spheres or projective spaces has attracted the attention of both pure and applied mathematicians. A common approach to this challenge involves minimizing certain pairwise interaction energies. In this talk, I will tackle the problem of minimizing the Riesz energy on the Grassmann manifold. In particular, I will show how to derive upper bounds for this energy on the Grassmannian Gr(2,4) using determinantal point processes. This is joint work with Ujué Etayo.
